I started my journey studying massage therapy and although I didn't complete the program I ended with a degree in Political Science. That brought me to Asia for 6-years where I honed my teaching skills as a corporate ESL instructor is Central Tokyo. Having immersed myself in the far east I moved back to Canada and to Toronto to study to become a postural therapy teacher. When we first learned to crawl and stand our lower back muscles couldn't support us. We used our quadriceps as our main support. Watch the toddler standing, with their flat back.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Over the years our posture developed, changed. Through years of desk use and other furniture. Through the socialization of the mirror image and popular culture, we developed ourselves. We developed the way that we customarily use our body. Most often in our modern culture, the way that we are using our body is not optimal, and can be both painful and potentially damaging.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;To get to a place where your body is being used most efficiently, where your pelvis is free and your head balances on top of the spine; &lt;b&gt;you must unfold slowly&lt;/b&gt;.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_-CI5kV-ELuE/SvgJob5sTxI/AAAAAAAAAFI/lrTKbMG-GRQ/s1600-h/IMG_1767.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"&gt;&lt;img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_-CI5kV-ELuE/SvgJob5sTxI/AAAAAAAAAFI/lrTKbMG-GRQ/s200/IMG_1767.jpg" /&gt;&lt;/a&gt;The Mitzvah Technique is so simple. Its a huge project, but the intention is deeply important. Knowing what my body is doing. Another good recipe is called Kitchari.
